Kira, aka. KiraMadeThis, is from Toronto, Canada, and her artist journey began at the age of 3, when she decided to vandalize her mom’s kitchen walls. Since then, Kira has been “customizing” anything she can get her hands on–whether it’s building walls, cars, shoes–she finds the best canvases are usually the ones that are mobile. What Kira sets out to do with her designs is to combine two unlikely concepts and make them more beautiful than the sum of their parts. In Kira’s eyes, she finds beauty in naturally occurring patterns such as marble, rust, and porcelain. Kira starts with organic textures as the foundation for her work, and then redefines their meanings/feelings through her painting techniques and applying them onto a manufactured shoe.
Kira is thrilled to be joining the Angelus team, and has big goals for this partnership. Besides wanting to improve her craft as an artist, Kira is also on a mission to create more learning and art opportunities for the youth and community of Toronto. She sees this partnership as an opportunity to give back to the community that has helped shape her into the artist that she is today.
