Salvaging a new pair of shoes

Good. It was a learning experience, so it wasn't a breeze. I read some advice by Angelus and some by other customers that helped. I wanted to dye a new jet black suede pair of shoes a medium gray similar to a previous pair I'd worn for years with jeans. The black maybe was fine for black pants but too stark for anything else. To get the shade I needed, I bought a bottle of black and a bottle of dark gray which really wasn't even medium gray and mixed them completely. I oversaturated them the first time, so I took a wire brush when it was dry to brush out the excess. It pretty much removed most of the color. I let them dry, then went back and lightly spotted an individual area so as not to oversaturate it, then continued spreading it back and forth in the area and then finally with the nap to achieve a uniform color. Then I moved to another area and then another doing the same thing till I'd finished each shoe. A few areas needed some additional touchup where I didn't have enough dye. Now, it's the shade I want it. I've ordered a bottle of Angelus leather spray sealer to make sure it doesn't bleed and holds the color. So I guess my final opinion is "pending" but sofar, so good. Now that I've got the technique, I'd be comfortale doing it again.

I will only ever use Angelus!!

The color is exactly what I expected it to be and the application of it was very simple. I am restoring a pair of Jordan 1s and the suede was discolored in some places. This covered the discoloring and they look almost brand new!

Dark grey

I love the dark gray shoe dye but the light green was too light!

Grey looks just like the sample

I used this grey to remove the beige off this ACG Air Skarn with the dabber that it comes with. I soaked it into the bottle, rinsed excess from the spongie ball and did only one coat of dabbing all over the suede. It worked great and had no streaks at the end! It's a bit cakey so I brushed the suede when dry to get rid of dust. Took about 3 days to fully dry(I used a heat gun and air dry) and a coat of suede protector spray. I even used it on a mesh material with a brush. I recommend it as a good grey that can be worked with to get a variety of shades.
