Marker Bodies

Angelus offers refillable Empty Paint Markers designed with durable pump-action flow. Each marker features a dual-sided chisel and a round tip for precise and flexible line control. 

Sizes typically include 3 mm, 5 mm, and 10 mm, giving you options for detail work or bold coverage. Replacement tips are also available.

Fill Formula (For Markers)

For smooth flow, fill markers with Angelus Acrylic Paint mixed 1:1 with 2-Thin. This blend ensures consistent delivery and prevents clogging during use. 

It even provides the best coverage for canvas markers. Just keep in mind that metallics and neons are not recommended because of their dense pigments.

For Softer Canvas Feel

When working on garments or softer canvas, mix Angelus paint 1:1 with 2-Soft Fabric Medium. 

After application, heat-set the paint to lock in flexibility. This ensures the finish feels soft to the touch while maintaining durability for wearable projects.

Building your own canvas markers gives you complete control over color, flow, and finish quality.

1. Choose Your Colors: Select from the full Angelus paint line, including the All 84 Standard Colors Kit. Any acrylic works well for canvas, but avoid using metallics and neons in markers due to the pigment density.

2. Mix for Marker Flow: Combine Angelus Acrylic Paint with 2-Thin in a 1:1 ratio. Stir thoroughly until the mixture has a uniform consistency. This ensures steady marker flow.

3. For Softer Fabric Projects: When working on garments or soft canvas, mix paint 1:1 with 2-Soft Fabric Medium. Heat-setting is required only when this additive is used.

4. Strain and Load: Pass the paint through a reusable paint strainer for smooth consistency. Use an eye dropper to fill the marker barrel, then cap tightly. Marker sizes range from 3 mm to 10 mm.

5. Shake and Prime: Shake the marker vigorously. Pump the nib on scrap canvas until fully saturated and the flow is consistent.

6. Test Your Lines: Switch between chisel and round tips to adjust line style. Replace tips as needed with Paint Marker Replacement Tips.

7. Maintain: Always recap markers after use. Store upright and replace worn tips to keep performance reliable.
   
   

Using canvas markers correctly ensures smooth results and helps your artwork stay vibrant over time.

1. Prep the Surface: Clean fabric with Angelus Foam-Tex Gentle Foaming Cleaner. Let the canvas dry fully and tape edges if working on shoes or bags. Clean surfaces improve adhesion and reduce uneven coverage.

2. Apply in Thin Layers: Work in light passes rather than one heavy coat. Allow each layer to dry before applying the next. This builds color gradually, reducing streaks or clumping.

3. Heat-Set When Needed: If you used 2-Soft for flexible fabric projects, heat-set the design with a heat gun. Keep the tool moving to avoid scorching.

4. Optional Finishing: Many users stop after heat-setting, but you can apply a protective coat from the 4-Coat collection for added durability. This step is optional but recommended for items exposed to heavy wear.
