PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

*Please note that our Neon Colors require a base color of a similar shade before application.*

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas. 

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry. 

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

Starter kit

Great place to start if you're interested in customizing sneakers. As, a beginner myself I'd recommend getting the basic colors. That way you're able to pretty much make any color combo yourself. Also, consider getting extra deglazer and a larger 2 soft and 2 hard (if you order them), you will run out.

Worked better than I thought

I was a little nervous about painting the tongue of my shoes white to match the rest of the shoe due to the bright red color of them but after about 4-5 coats you can’t even tell they were painted 5/5 stars.

Starter Kit

The advantage of this bundle is being able to choose the colors that you want. The brushes are good synthetics and are useful if you're not airbrushing.

Great starter kit

This is a great kit to get started on customizing your leather shoes. If you aren’t starting with a fresh new pair of shoes this cleaner/brush will get your shoes ready to be a canvas. The prep easily gets the factory “sealer” off the shoes for better paint coverage. You get three colors of your choice of paint, brushes and your choice of sealant. A great starter pack with everything you need at a great price.
