Angelus 2-Hard is a paint hardener and adhesion promoter that turns Angelus acrylic paint into paint for plastic, metal, glass, and other hard, non-porous surfaces. Mix it into your paint and it grips surfaces that paint alone won't stick to, then dries to a harder film.

It comes in 1 oz. and 4 oz. bottles. We've made Angelus products in Los Angeles since 1907.

  • Plastic, like the plastic parts of shoes, headsets, and cups
  • Metal, like water bottles, flasks, and moto tanks
  • Glass

Keep it off

On fabric, mix your paint with Angelus 2-Soft instead. On leather, use Angelus Paint on its own after deglazing.

How to use it

  1. Lightly sand the surface and wipe it clean so the paint has something to grip.
  2. Mix 2-Hard into your Angelus Paint: 50% 2-Hard (equal parts) for flexible surfaces, or 75% 2-Hard (3 parts 2-Hard to 1 part paint) for rigid surfaces.
  3. Apply several thin coats until the coverage is full and even.
  4. Let it dry for 48 hours before using the item.

This was my first time using this product, & I think it really helped with the adhesion process in the surfaces I applied the paint to. The only thing I don’t like is that it hardens in the bottle around the top after pouring.

Angelus gold metallic acrylic on metal buckles

Used this on a project to paint metal buckles on boots. Followed the guidelines from Angelus. Used white acrylic paint mixed with the prescribed 75% hardener and 25% acrylic paint on the metal as a base coat. Followed with Angelus gold metallic acrylic mixed to the same 75/25 ration.
Transformed the metal buckles and accessories into looking almost like gold.
