Angelus Neon Jamaican Joy is a neon acrylic leather paint in a bright neon yellow-green that lights up under a black light. It's made for custom sneakers and projects that need a bold pop of color, and it's water-based and flexible once dry.

Choose 1 oz., 4 oz., pint, or quart. We've made Angelus products in Los Angeles since 1907.

Before and after you paint

On leather, take off the factory finish first with 3 to 5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer. When you're done, seal it with Angelus 4-Coat for protection and the sheen you want.

Common questions

Does Jamaican Joy glow under a black light?

Yes. Like other neon paints, it lights up under a black light, but it doesn't store light or glow in the dark once the black light is off. For paint that glows on its own in the dark, use Angelus Green Glow.

Why does Jamaican Joy look see-through on dark leather?

Neon paints are naturally more translucent, so lay down a base coat of Angelus White or a similar color first for the brightest result.

Can you airbrush Angelus Neon Jamaican Joy?

Yes. Use an airbrush with at least a 0.35mm nozzle, and thin the paint with Angelus 2-Thin if you need it to flow more easily.

How much paint do I need?

A 1 oz. bottle usually covers 2 to 3 pairs of shoes completely. For a leather chair, plan on about a pint to a quart, and for a full couch, a quart or two.

How to Paint Leather:

Use Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer, making 3–5 passes to remove the finish.
Let the leather dry for a few minutes, then wipe with a microfiber cloth.
Apply a similar-color base coat first; Neon colors require it for proper brightness.
Apply 3–5 thin coats of Angelus Paint with a brush, sponge, or airbrush (0.35 mm+). Allow 15–30 minutes between coats.
Allow the paint to cure for 24 hours before bending or wearing.
For added protection or sheen, apply 1–2 light layers of Angelus 4-Coat.

How to Paint Canvas and Denim:

Clean the material thoroughly using Angelus Easy Cleaner to remove oils and dirt.
Ensure the canvas or denim is completely dry.
For a softer, flexible feel, mix the paint with Angelus 2-Soft and heat-set after applying.
Apply a similar-color base coat; Neon colors need it to pop.
Apply 3–5 thin coats, drying 15–30 minutes between layers.
Canvas doesn’t require a top coat, but Angelus 4-Coat can be used to adjust sheen.

Used it on a pair of white leather shoes and was hesitant, but the second coat did wonders. Covered completely with a nice natural sheen. The paint was easy to apply and brushstrokes went away on the second coat. May do some touchup just to make sure, but I love this product. Great quality.

Neons are see through.

I love love love this color. It needs a light or white base because the neons are translucent. I painted navy blue leather and used Hot Pink as my primer. It turned out perfect with a few coats of each.
