Angelus Metallic Pewter is a high-performance acrylic polymer specifically developed for projects requiring a deep, gunmetal metallic finish. Unlike standard grey paints, this water-based formula contains specialized metallic pigments that provide a clean, reflective sheen on leather, vinyl, and canvas. The technical composition is engineered to integrate with material fibers, ensuring the Pewter finish remains highly flexible and resists cracking or peeling even in high-stress areas like the toe box during constant mechanical flexing.

For a professional-grade result, the surface should be prepared with a deglazer to remove factory topcoats and oils. Applying the paint in several light, uniform layers allows the metallic pigments to settle evenly, creating a smooth, factory-fresh appearance. Once the 24-hour curing cycle is complete, the paint transforms into an industrial-strength, waterproof barrier that provides long-term resistance to abrasive scuffs, scratches, and environmental fading.

Formula: Water-based metallic acrylic resin designed for maximum flexibility and a rich gunmetal sheen.

Application: Suitable for use with brushes, sponges, or airbrushes (thinning with 2-Thin is required for airbrush applications).

Coverage: High-density metallic pigments offer excellent opacity and a vibrant, light-catching effect on both light and dark substrates.

Durability: Engineered for industrial-standard resistance to water, scratches, and UV wear.

Sizes: Available in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart containers to accommodate both precision detail work and large-scale customization.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas.

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry.

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

It is amazing. I wanted to wait to write this review until i was done with both pairs but just doing the left shoe it looks amazing. I got these shoes back in 2015 off a guy in High School so they were COOKED. My daughter found a leather bag at the local thrift that was in excellent condition, but definitely not her colour. Though neither of us is much for painting, we decided to give it a try. A friend enthusiastically recommended Angelus. My daughter picked the colours--blue and copper--and she and I went to it.
