I started customizing sneakers in 2020 after losing my 9 to 5 job during lockdown, with no formal art background. Just curiosity and the willingness to learn. Looking back, I realize my work has always evolved alongside me. Every pair I paint marks a different chapter of my journey, and I’m constantly exploring new ideas, techniques, and ways to tell stories through wearable art.

If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring artists, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to start before you feel ready. I knew nothing about painting or color theory when I customized my first pair, but every project taught me something new. Stay consistent, enjoy the process, and never compare your Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20.

A Step-By-Step Guide
1Step 1: Prep the Surface
Strip the factory finish by wiping down the upper with Leather Preparer & Deglazer using a cotton pad or microfiber cloth.
Lightly sand, then wipe away any leftover residue.
Always remember: Test in an inconspicuous or discreet area first before starting your project!
2Step 2: Character Outlining and Colors
Apply thin, even coats instead of one thick layer to avoid cracking.
Allow each coat to dry before adding the next
Use an airbrush for smooth professional looking coverage.
3Step 3: Add Fine Details & Line work
Switch to fine detail brushes to paint shading, outlines, or complex character.
Keep your paint consistency light and smooth to ensure clean lines without clumping.
Take your time layering colors to make your design pop off the shoe.
4Step 4: Seal & Protect with a Finisher
Once the paint is fully dry seal your artwork by applying 2–3 thin coats of Angelus 4-Coat Finisher.
Choose your preferred sheen matte, satin, or gloss for maximum durability and scuff resistance.
Allow the customized sneakers to cure for 24–48 hours before wearing them out.
