Introduction

In this Creator Spotlight, artist @alejaflorezart brought a simple coffee cup to life, transforming everyday morning routines into a canvas with a hand painted floral arrangement. After prepping the glazed surface they used thin coats of Angelus Leather Paint to ensure the vibrant blooms bonded smoothly to the curved mug without brush strokes.

Alejandra @Alejaflorezart

I start painting since I was a little girl, my family introduced me to art and with the pass of the time this became my biggest love and passion. I’m currently studying visual arts and working on a digital marketing agency, but what I really love to do is to create artistic content on social media, where I customize all kind of materials and stuff because I feel that absolutely everything can have our artistic touch.

If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring artists, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to try to create on new surfaces or to suddenly damage the things you’re working on (custom clothes, shoes, canvas, etc.) Many times nothing comes out as we expect at the beginning, but it is because in the end, something better will come out. Always trust your intuition, and your artistic Spirit.

How to Upgrade an Everyday Coffee Cup:
A Step-By-Step Guide

1Prep for Impact

Start by cleaning off any surface dirt, oil, or debris. For a smooth finish thoroughly wipe down the surface using Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer on a clean cloth or cotton pad to strip away the factory finish so the paint can bond properly.

Step 1
2Paint in Thin Coats

Apply your Angelus Acrylic Leather Paint using light layers with a brush or airbrush rather than one thick coat. Allowing each layer to fully dry for 10 to 15 minutes before applying the next prevents brush strokes, cracking, and uneven coverage. Repeat with thin coats until you reach your desired opacity and color depth.

Step 2
3Seal with a Finisher

Once your final coat of paint is completely dry, apply an Angelus Top Coat to protect your work and achieve your desired look. Apply 2 to 3 light coats of Angelus 4-Coat for maximum scuff and water resistance. Allow 10 to 15 minutes of drying time between layers.

Step 3
4Cure and Protect

Let your finished project fully cure in a room-temperature environment for 24 to 48 hours before wear or heavy use. Keep the item away from moisture during this curing window.
