Angelus Brown is a high-performance acrylic polymer specifically developed for the high-flex demands of footwear and leather goods. Unlike conventional acrylics, this water-based formula is designed to integrate with the fibers of leather, vinyl, and canvas, providing a permanent earth-toned finish that maintains its structural integrity under stress. The paint’s molecular composition allows it to expand and contract during the natural movement of a shoe, effectively eliminating the risk of surface cracking or delamination in high-stress zones.

For a professional-grade application, the material must first be stripped of its factory finish using a deglazer. This step is critical for ensuring the brown pigment can achieve a chemical bond with the substrate. When applied in thin, incremental coats, the paint levels itself to eliminate brush strokes and creates a seamless, factory-fresh appearance. Once cured, the result is a fully waterproof surface that is highly resistant to both abrasive scuffs and UV-induced color fading.

Formula: Professional-grade, water-based acrylic resin designed for extreme flexibility and adhesion.

Application: Suitable for brushwork, sponges, or airbrushing (0.35mm nozzle or larger recommended when thinned with 2-Thin).

Coverage: Concentrated brown pigment offering superior color depth and opacity on both light and dark materials.

Durability: Industrial-standard resistance to water penetration, scratching, and chemical wear after a 24-hour cure.

Sizes: Available in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart containers to suit any production volume.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas.

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry.

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

Great for painting leather books

Love Angelus paints!! I’ve tried other leather paints that end up thick and clumpy over time but Angelus goes on smooth and stays good for a long time. I use it to paint leather books and it doesn’t even need a sealer.

Old sofa looks new!

Was getting ready to toss my worn leather sofa when I saw a YouTube video of a girl, with a similar issue, explaining how she used this product to save hers. Ordered a bottle, was a very easy application and now my sofa looks brand new! Love it!

Custom dress shoes!

I have a hard foot to fit so when I find a stylish shoe that's comfortable, I buy multiples. With Angelus paint, I can take a tried-and-true shoe and paint it to extend my wardrobe color options! These came in black and I painted one pair to brown, as both are shown in photo. Happy with the result! Looking to do navy next, but having trouble choosing from the almost black navy (too much like black for me) and the more brilliant colors that also won't work for me since I want a more classic navy. Wondering if the brilliant hue will be toned down by painting on black?

This is not the first time I've used Angelos Paint for leather. After damage to the leather seat on a bentwood chair, I was able to salvage it with this paint. I used 3 coats and it looks very nice now.
