Angelus Copper is a technical metallic coating specifically engineered for high-flexibility applications on leather, vinyl, and canvas. This professional-grade, water-based formula features finely ground metallic pigments designed to integrate with the material's fibers, ensuring the rich, warm copper finish remains pliable even in high-stress areas like the toe box and side panels. By creating a permanent bond rather than a thick surface layer, it effectively eliminates the risks of cracking or peeling during constant mechanical movement.

To ensure a factory-standard finish, the surface must be prepared with a deglazer to remove original topcoats and oils. Applying the paint in light, incremental layers allows the metallic particles to align for a self-leveling, smooth appearance that is resistant to brush marks. Once the 24-hour curing cycle is complete, the Copper finish becomes an industrial-strength, waterproof barrier that provides long-term resistance against abrasive scuffs and environmental color fading.

Formula: Water-based, high-flexibility acrylic polymer with metallic pigments optimized for permanent adhesion on footwear.
Application: Suitable for use with brushes, sponges, or airbrushes (thinning with 2-Thin is required for airbrush applications).
Coverage: High-density metallic pigment provides exceptional opacity and a warm, reflective sheen; ideal for custom luxury themes or restoring metallic leather goods.
Durability: Formulated for maximum resistance to water penetration, scuffing, and UV wear.
Sizes: Available in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart containers to support both individual projects and high-volume shop work.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas.

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry.

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

Repurposing my 3yr old Arizona Birkenstocks. Originally the rose gold color w/the white sole. Professionally re-soled. I used the Angelus Deglazer to strip all of the color back to the raw brown leather (I used a quarter of the bottle for both shoes). It took 4 coats to get this opacity, and I did not need a thinner to help the paint spread, so great quality paint as usual. I'm going to put a coat of Angelus Matte finish to get a duller, luggage effect. This copper metallic paint is great! Thanks Angelus!

Vintage Chanel Ballet Shoes

I revamped my mother’s very worn out vintage Chanel Ballet shoes from over 30 years ago and I cannot believe how beautiful they turned out. I literally just finished them but I had to leave a review because of how impressed I am with the products I bought. I first used the leather balm, followed by the copper paint (1 oz was more than enough) and finished it off with the acrylic finished which brought such a beautiful shine and finish to the colour (including the top part which Is the original colour). I’m going to be painting some vintage Chanel bags too with the Angelus paint I bought and I can’t wait to see how they will turn out. I’ve been wanted to fix these vintage items for years and I’m glad I came across Angelus. I’ve attached the before and after!

Missing the Brush

Really love the color and metallic luster of this paint; very rich looking and actually great coverage for a metallic color. I really miss the brushes in the cap though; it gave a lot more control over how much paint to pour out.
