Angelus Neutral is a specialized technical coating designed to provide a clear, high-flexibility base for leather, vinyl, and canvas. Unlike standard pigmented paints, this water-based formula contains no color and dries completely transparent, making it an essential tool for mixing custom colors or incorporating dry pigments into an acrylic carrier. Its chemical composition is engineered to bond deeply with material fibers, ensuring that any mixture created remains pliable and resistant to cracking in high-flex areas like the toe box.

To ensure professional-grade results, the leather surface should be treated with a deglazer to remove factory coatings before application. When used as a base for custom mixtures, Angelus Neutral promotes a smooth, self-leveling finish that resists the "bulky" buildup often seen with standard acrylics. Once cured for 24 hours, the resulting finish is entirely waterproof and provides an industrial-strength barrier that protects against environmental wear and abrasive scuffing.

Formula: Transparent, water-based acrylic carrier optimized for maximum flexibility and permanent adhesion.

Application: Ideal for mixing with other Angelus colors or dry pigments; applies smoothly via brush, sponge, or airbrush.

Usage: Dries clear with no yellowing; perfect for thinning pigments or creating custom translucent effects.

Durability: Engineered for long-term resistance to water, mechanical stress, and peeling.

Sizes: Stocked in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart containers to accommodate individual mixing or large-scale production.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas. 

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry. 

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.
