My name is Jesse Khoury, a 24 year old artist from Sydney, Australia, and I am the artist behind Kustom K1D. I started customizing sneakers over 6 years ago when my brother introduced me to Angelus products and how to customize sneakers. From there I became fascinated with combining my passion for art with my love of sneakers and sport. Today, I’m proud to create custom pieces for some of the biggest athletes across Australian sports, including the NRL, AFL and NBL, while also collaborating with brands and corporations such as ASICS and BSC. Kustom K1D is all about pushing creativity, experimenting with new ideas and showing people that art can be worn, shared and experienced in a completely different way.

How to Customize AF1s:
A Step-By-Step Guide
1Prep for Sneaker
Deglaze First: Wipe down the entire leather upper using Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer with a microfiber cloth or cotton pad to strip the factory finish.
Crease Prep: Lightly scuff high flex areas with 400 grit sandpaper then wipe clean again.
2Paint & Additives
Thin Coats: Apply Angelus Leather Paint in multiple thin layers allowing 10–15 minutes of dry time between coats.
For Fabric/Sock Liners: If customizing the inner collar or tongue tag mix paint 1:1 with Angelus 2-Soft and heat set with a heat gun after painting to maintain a soft texture.
3Protect & Seal
Ensure Paint is Ready: Finishers should only be applied over freshly painted/dyed Angelus products or properly prepped bare materials.
Choose Your Protection: For maximum durability and scuff resistance, apply Angelus 4-Coat Finish in your choice of sheen (Matte, Satin, Gloss, or High Gloss).
4Final Inspection
Post Care Maintenance: Protect your finished work long term by applying a water and stain repellent spray after the full 48 hour curing window.
