Developed to dry with almost no shine, Angelus Flat Black is the industry standard for projects requiring a low-gloss, factory-matte finish. This acrylic paint maintains a flexible bond that will not crack or peel when prepped and applied properly to high-wear leather surfaces. The water-based formula provides heavy opacity for consistent coverage and can be modified with additives like 2-Thin for airbrushing or 2-Soft for fabric.

Low-Gloss Matte Finish: Dries to a flat black sheen that mimics original factory finishes, making it the primary choice for classic sneaker restoration.

Flexible Bond Technology: The premium acrylic formula is built to move with the leather, preventing flaking or cracking in high-flex areas like the toe box.

High-Opacity Coverage: Concentrated flat black pigments provide deep, non-reflective color saturation in 3 to 5 thin, even coats.

Professional Volume Options: Available in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart containers to support everything from custom detailing to full-scale shop production.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas.

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry.

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

A little paint goes a long way! (Flat Black + Flat White)

Absolute wizardry. Amazed at how little paint you really need to get full coverage. I bought both the flat black and flat white to get the perfect grey color for my costume rather than gambling on a single bottle of dark grey. I got a 1 ounce bottle of each and mixed it in a medicine cup. I still have so much paint left. I used the surface prep and had no issues applying the paint at all. They say faux leather is the most susceptible to becoming tacky, but I had no issues! Probably the best paint ever. Can't even tell that these boots were black before!
