Angelus Grey is a professional-grade, water-based acrylic pigment developed for the high-movement demands of leather footwear and lifestyle accessories. Unlike standard paints that sit on the surface, this technical formula is designed to integrate with the material, creating a permanent bond with leather, vinyl, and canvas. This integration ensures the grey finish remains highly flexible, allowing it to withstand constant bending and stress at the toe box and side panels without developing fractures or losing adhesion.

For a factory-standard result, the surface should be prepared with a deglazer to strip the original finish, ensuring a direct bond for the grey pigment. By applying the paint in light, incremental layers, you achieve a self-leveling, smooth appearance that mimics a factory finish. Once the 24-hour curing period is complete, the paint forms a waterproof and industrial-strength barrier, providing long-term resistance against abrasive scuffs and environmental color fading.

Formula: Water-based, high-flexibility acrylic polymer specifically engineered for leather and vinyl substrates.

Application: Suitable for use with brushes, sponges, or airbrushes (thinning with 2-Thin is required for airbrush applications).

Coverage: High-density grey pigment provides exceptional opacity; works effectively as a neutral base or for full color-swaps.

Durability: Formulated for maximum resistance to water penetration, scuffing, and UV wear.

Sizes: Available in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart containers to support both individual projects and high-volume shop work.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas. 

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry. 

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

What can I say Angelus is the only place I get anything sneaker related.I have a pair of 17 AF1 Platiunum grey camouflage sneakers that I wore once,and a chunk of paint came off the toe box.I sanded the area, put a white base coat, then added a little white to the grey and got an exact match, then I used the Matte 4 coat, and I can finally wear a sneaker I've had sitting since 2017.
