Angelus Light Grey is a professional-grade acrylic coating engineered to provide a clean, neutral finish that excels in both restoration and custom design. Unlike lower-tier paints, this water-based formula is designed to integrate with the fibers of leather, vinyl, and canvas, ensuring the light grey pigment moves in sync with the material’s natural expansion. This technical composition specifically addresses high-stress areas like the toe box, maintaining its bond without cracking or peeling under constant mechanical movement.

To ensure a factory-quality bond, the surface must be prepped with a deglazer to strip any original topcoats or oils. Applying the paint in several light, even layers allows the self-leveling resin to create a smooth surface free of brush marks. Once the 24-hour curing process is complete, the light grey finish transforms into a waterproof, industrial-strength barrier that is highly resistant to abrasive scuffs, scratches, and environmental fading.

Formula: High-flexibility, water-based acrylic resin optimized for permanent leather and vinyl adhesion.

Application: Suitable for detail brushes, sponges, or airbrushes (thinning with 2-Thin is required for spray applications).

Coverage: Concentrated light grey pigment offering excellent opacity and color consistency on both light and dark bases.

Durability: Engineered for long-term resistance to water, environmental wear, and abrasive scuffing.

Sizes: Stocked in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart containers to support individual repairs or high-volume shop work.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas.

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry.

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

Best product ever for leather painting!

I was skeptical at first as I am an older independent woman but had a vision of painting my 5 piece leather couch. I wanted a change but didn’t want to buy a new couch. I did my research and read hundreds reviews and they couldn’t have been more on point. The hardest part was choosing the color. The paint is easy to work with goes on smoothly and dries quickly. I did apply the finisher since I have a dog who loves the couch. I will send an updated review to see how well this holds up. As for now this is the best product ever and I would highly recommend it. PS I was a beginner at this!

Love this product!

First time ever attempting anything like this. Had a lot of fun doing it and they turned out much better than I expected. Standard paint layered on thin but dries quickly. Satin glaze was a bit finicky and had to work quickly and not overlap brush strokes. Love the look of the flat glaze. Im totally hooked and already planning my next project and purchase :)

These look great! so meticulous.

Fabulous result!

I had several small punctures and a rip in some vintage leather car seats. With careful mixing, using the prep and followed by the sealer in satin, you almost can’t see where they were. The key is carefully mixing to get the exact color. The result is practically perfect. Thanks Angelus!!

Amazing. We love to see the product used on interiors.

Great quality and coverage, but darker than expected

I used this Angelus Light Gray paint to change the color of my leather sofa, and the results are fantastic. The paint has excellent coverage and flows very smoothly, making the application process quite easy. The only downside is the color itself. In my opinion, it is not a true light gray; it looks much more like a medium-to-dark gray. I had to mix in a large amount of white paint to achieve the actual light gray shade I needed. Other than the color discrepancy, everything else about this product is excellent.

Product as advertised except for color

Product as advertised except for color. Light Gray that was received has a blue tint and not as dark as picture sample online. However, the durability is impressive for the vinyl upholstery that I bought it for.
