Built to handle the constant movement of sneakers and leather gear, this water-based acrylic paint sticks to leather, vinyl, and canvas without cracking. The professional formula works best in thin layers after a quick deglazer prep, giving you a smooth finish that won’t peel or flake off. Because the paint levels itself out and stays flexible as it cures, it creates a tough, waterproof bond that keeps its color even on high-crease areas like the toe box.

Formula: Flexible, water-based acrylic built for shoe restoration and custom projects.

Application: Works with brushes, sponges, or airbrushes (0.35mm+ nozzle recommended with 2-Thin).

Coverage: High-pigment red formula provides solid color on both light and dark leather.

Durability: Strong resistance to water, scuffs, and fading once the paint is fully cured.

Sizes: Available in 1 oz, 4 oz, Pint, and Quart bottles for any project size.

PAINTING LEATHER

1. Prepare leather surfaces using 3-5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using our applicators, cotton balls, or a rag. (acetone can also be used).

2. Wait for leather to dry a few minutes. When dry, wipe with microfiber cloth to remove any remaining dust particles.

3. Apply Angelus Paint with paint brush, airbrush (at least 0.35mm nozzle) or sponge. Apply 3-5 coats or until desired coverage has been reached. Less coats can be used for line work and detail work.

Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

4. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before allowing paint to bend or flex. Be careful of flying lint or debris getting on the shoe to avoid imperfections. Longer curing time ensures better durability.

5. To add extra protection or customize the finish, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat in Flat, Satin, Glossy, or Matte. Use 1-2 layers for the best results. 1-2 layers on top.

PAINTING CANVAS/DENIM - SHOES, CLOTHING, AND MORE

1. Prep by cleaning the surface with a cleaning product like our Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit. It is necessary to get out all the oils and dirt that may be sitting in or on the canvas. 

2. Make sure there is adequate dry time and that you wipe off and get all the cleaner out.

3. (Optional) If you want to make the paint soak in and not be as rubbery textured on canvas we suggest using our product 2-Soft mixed with our paint. You can paint Angelus paint directly on canvas without it but it just will feel more like a screen print then part of the shoe. When using 2-Soft you must heat set.

4. Paint with 3-5 light layers of Angelus Paint. Make sure to leave to dry 15-30 minutes between layers.

5. Leave to dry. 

(Optional) No additional protection is really needed as the paint has soaked into the canvas. If you want to change the sheen to a matte or glossy look instead we do suggest our 4-Coat Clear Coat.

Prep for Leather
