Types of Angelus paint

Standard colors cover most projects. For special effects, choose neon paint that lights up under a black light, metallic and pearlescent paint for shine and shimmer, Glitterlites for sparkle, or Collector Edition colors matched to classic sneakers.

How to prep leather before painting
  1. Clean off dirt and old polish or wax.
  2. Remove the factory finish with 3 to 5 passes of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer, until the leather looks dull.
  3. Let it dry.
  4. Mask off anything you don't want painted with Angelus Red Vinyl Tape.

How to apply leather paint
  1. Apply thin, even coats with Angelus brushes or an airbrush.
  2. Let each coat dry before adding the next. Most colors cover in 3 to 5 thin coats.
  3. Seal your work with Acrylic Finisher to set the sheen, or 4-Coat for heavy scuff resistance.

Thin coats are the key. Heavy coats take longer to dry and are more likely to crack.

Caring for painted shoes and leather
  • Wipe clean with a soft cloth or Angelus Easy Cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive scrubbers.
  • Touch up worn spots with the same color as needed.
  • Store painted items in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Does leather paint really work?

Yes. On properly prepped leather, Angelus paint bonds to the surface and stays flexible, so it moves with the leather instead of sitting on top like a stiff coating.

Can I paint leather furniture?

Yes. Angelus paint works on leather couches and chairs. Prep with Deglazer, apply thin coats, and seal with Acrylic Finisher.

Can I mix Angelus paint colors?

Yes. Every Angelus paint mixes with every other, so you can blend custom shades.

Can I airbrush Angelus paint?

Yes. Use an airbrush with at least a 0.35mm nozzle, and thin the paint with Angelus 2-Thin if it needs to flow more easily.
